CBSE 2025 Results – Overview and How to Check

  • Expected Result Dates: CBSE typically announces Class 10 and 12 results in mid-May. In recent years, results were declared on May 13, 2024 and on May 12, 2023. For 2025, CBSE has not confirmed a date, but experts expect the board to release both Class 10 and 12 results around the same mid-May timeframe. (CBSE exams 2025 were held Feb–April: Class 10 from Feb 15 to Mar 18 and Class 12 from Feb 15 to Apr 4.)
  • Official Result Websites: When released, results will be available on CBSE’s official portals: cbseresults.nic.in, results.cbse.nic.in, and cbse.gov.in. Students can also check results via the DigiLocker website/app, the UMANG mobile app, and through SMS services.
  • Step-by-Step Access:
    1. Visit official CBSE result site (e.g. cbseresults.nic.in or cbse.gov.in).
    2. Click the link for “Class X Results 2025” or “Class XII Results 2025.”
    3. Enter your roll number, school number, admit card ID and date of birth. (These details are printed on your admit card.)
    4. Submit to view or download your scorecard.
    • Alternate methods: Send an SMS in the format cbse10 <space> <RollNo> (for Class 10) or cbse12 <space> <RollNo> to 7738299899, and you will receive your result via SMS. You can also log in to DigiLocker (linked to your CBSE-registered mobile) using your roll no., school code and a 6-digit PIN (provided by your school) to download the digital marksheet.

What’s New in 2025 Session

  • Post-Result Re-evaluation Change: For 2025, CBSE has flipped the order of rechecking steps. Students will first be able to get a photocopy of their evaluated answer sheets, then decide whether to apply for re-verification or re-evaluation. This transparency lets students review how their papers were marked before challenging any scores.
  • Dual Board Exams (from 2026): CBSE plans to introduce two board exam attempts per year for Class 10 starting in 2026, allowing students to take exams twice and retain the better score. This change aims to reduce stress and increase flexibility.
  • Grading System: CBSE continues with relative grading (percentile-based categories A1 through D2, with E indicating “Essential Repeat” for a subject) instead of fixed cutoffs. The minimum passing marks remain 33% in each subject.
  • Exam Pattern & Weightage: The 2025 exams have fewer lengthy answer questions to emphasize conceptual understanding. Class 12 papers include more competency-based questions that apply concepts to real-world scenarios. Also, internal school assessments now carry 40% of the total marks (projects, tests, assignments) and the board exam carries 60%.
  • Other Rules: Students must have at least 75% attendance in the academic year to be eligible for board exams. Special exam sessions will be arranged for students representing India in national/international sports or Olympiads, to avoid date clashes. CBSE has also announced new advanced-level exam papers (longer duration, higher difficulty) in Science and Social Science for Classes 9 and 10 starting 2025.
